SAMUI MONKEY CENTER

When thinking of Samui, the first thing that comes to your mind might be “a monkey collecting coconuts”. However, it might not be as easy as you might think to train a monkey to do so. For this reason, the Monkey Center is established and has turned into a new tourist attraction which becomes popular among local people and foreigners. In the center, the monkeys will be trained to collect the coconuts. Each training session takes about 4 months. If you have a monkey, you can take it to participate a training course which costs 6,000 Baht for 1 monkey. Moreover, you can enjoy other monkey shows in the center. For example, monkey jumping through the loops, memorizing numbers, playing guitars or untying knots. Also, you do not have to worry about the hygiene of the monkeys because all monkeys here are vaccinated and bathed every time before the show. The show opens 3 times a day: 10.30 a.m., 02.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. and cost 150 and 300 baht for children and adult respectively. How to get there to enjoy with the monkeys? The Monkey Center is situated at the entrance of KhaoThaPhra Village, Mu 1, Bo Phut sub-district, Suratthani province. By car, from Malibu Resort & Beach Club, Koh Samui, Only 37 Minutes (26.9 km.) to Samui Monkey Center.

Hin Ta and Hin Yai

Hin Ta and Hin Yai are the highlights of some fascinating rock formations at the southern end of Lamai Beach on Koh Samui. They've been a source of giggles and wonder on the island since they were discovered by the locals many years ago. Known as Grandpa (Ta) and Grandma (Yai), the rocks look, respectively, like male and female genitalia and they have turned into one of the island’s famous attractions.

FISHERMAN’S VILLAGE

Fisherman’s Village Samui is a historical part of Bophut, with rustic-style buildings, housing boutique stores, trendy restaurants and a small selection of hotels along the Beach Road. Every Friday from 05.00 p.m. – 11.00 p.m., the whole area becomes the site of the Fisherman’s Village Walking Street Market, attracting huge numbers of shoppers from across the island for the amazing variety of wares and the lively atmosphere.

This old part of Bophut Beach obviously takes its name from the fact that it was once home to a thriving fishing community, recently the fishermen have moved on and the main pier has collapsed, but the old wooden shophouses remain, with a warren of narrow alleys running between many of them, giving the village a charming old look.

Fisherman’s Village Walking Street differs in the unusually high number of unique (or at least quite rare) goods you can find. These include interesting handicrafts, herbs and spices, musical instruments, an impressive range of shoes, high quality local fabrics, one-of-a-kind jewelry and interesting fashion designs. You will also see fun street performances (including Muay Thai demonstrations, beatboxing and traditional Thai dances) particularly in front of the town’s old pier. The range of food and drink stalls are particularly impressive, allowing you to enjoy famous Thai treats like pad thai, banana pancakes, tempura seafood, and a colorful array of street food. By car, from Malibu Resort & Beach Club, Koh Samui, Only 14 Minutes (6.9 km.) to Fisherman’s Village.
